Coaching

Coaching is available to members of Matthews Hub who are 18+ and have a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD.

Coaching is a process of helping you figure out where you want to be, and the path you might take to get there from where you are now. It is a future-focused and goal-oriented way of working, which might involve things like setting goals, identifying obstacles, and putting in action plans.

Coaching can be accessed at a charge of £40 per session.

As well as considering practical actions, coaching can also help people develop greater insight into themselves, their mindsets, and their way of life by discussing things like beliefs, values, and identity. This means we might work on unpacking beliefs you have about yourself, considering what is important to you and what you value, and discussing what drives you. Coaching isn't just about getting something done – it is a way of exploring who you are and what you want.

Coaches do not give advice, information, or guidance. Instead, they use active listening, questions, and observations to support you in working towards your own solutions.

There are lots of things coaching can be helpful for. Here are some examples of topics members have been coached on previously:

  • Preparing for a life transition
  • Building confidence in themselves
  • Developing ways of achieving goals whilst experiencing difficulties with time management and organising

If you would like to access coaching through Matthews Hub, firstly, you would have a chat with one of the team to make sure coaching is the right option for you. Coaching isn't a replacement for mental health support and there are some topics that may not be suitable for coaching. It may also be that mentoring is a better fit for you (for information on what mentoring looks like, please see here: Post Diagnostic Support). If coaching is identified as a good fit for you, you would be referred to one of our three coaches to begin your journey!

We now have 3 members of staff who have achieved Associate Coach Diploma status and are working towards International Federation of Coaches (ICF) accreditation. We have a further 2 staff in training for the Associate Coach Diploma.
