Parent Support

Parent Support for Families of Matthew’s Hub Members

Who is this for?

Our parent support is available to parents/carers of members, and members who are parents/carers. We run a series of workshops and also have 1:1 person centred therapeutic support.

Where to begin?

We recommend that parents and carers start with our online Autism and ADHD Awareness Training sessions. Those needing further support can book on to our in-person workshops.

Raising a neurodivergent child can be deeply rewarding, but also challenging. Parents often find themselves feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to best support their child. At Matthew’s Hub, we understand that having a neurodivergent young person - whether autistic, with ADHD, or both - can impact the entire family.

But it doesn’t have to feel this way.

Our expert parents' neurodivergent team - whom are parents themselves - offer unique and personalised support to help families thrive. From workshops to one-to-one sessions, we’re here to guide you through understanding how a neurodiverse brain works and how to support your young person in achieving their full potential.

Autism & ADHD Awareness Training

We recommend that all parents and carers of Matthew's Hub members begin with our online Autism and ADHD introductory training. These sessions give you the tools to better understand your child and how to support them effectively.

Empowering Inclusive Listening Workshop

Those who have completed the introductory training can attend our workshops. This supportive workshop helps you build stronger connections with your neurodivergent child through inclusive communication and empathy. Find out more

Parents Transition Awareness Workshop

Transitions - big or small - can be overwhelming for neurodivergent young people. This workshop helps parents better understand transitions and learn how to support their child through life’s changes, including moving from school to college, university, or employment. Find out more

Parents & Carers Social @ The Cross Keys

We run a monthly parent’s social in the Cross Keys Pub in Cottingham. This runs at the same time as the Youth Group.

Parenting doesn’t have to be all workshops and training. Sometimes, you just need a break.

Join us for a relaxed evening with other parents while your young person attends our youth group. Have a drink, chat, play a game—or just enjoy the company!

Thinking about joining?

Take a look at this workshop feedback from other parents who’ve attended our sessions and found support, connection, and understanding.

‘Thank you for running the course. It was good to meet you all there. I liked chatting about our life experiences and sharing and supporting each other in a small but important way. Thank you for the time and effort put into the course content and for the resources. I was a good atmosphere and very meaningful.’

‘The workshop was great and I particularly liked the opportunities for parents to talk freely about their neurodivergent children. The handouts are also very useful as I tried to work through them during the program. It has been an enlightening experience.’

‘Was nice to meet with parents that are having similar experiences to us and also learn new ways to help us. To recognise when we are getting over stimulated by the kids and vis versa’
