Young People - Neurodiversity Front Door Support

Mentoring is available as part of the post assessment support commissioned by the Humber Trust Foundation for individuals diagnosed and referred by the Children's Neurodiversity Front Door Team.

Post Diagnostic Mentoring Support at Matthew's Hub offers a unique opportunity to talk to one of our team of neurodivergent peer mentors who have lived experience alongside knowledge through working with other autistic and/or ADHD adults and young people.

Post diagnostic mentoring is a space to explore your diagnosis, at a time when you are ready to do so. This may involve learning more about autism and/or ADHD, reflecting on how it impacts you as an individual, discussing your own traits and experiences with another neurodivergent person, and provides an opportunity to explore and develop strategies to understand and if possible minimise associated difficulties.

Mentoring sessions can be in person or online to suit.

Core Needs Support

Matthew’s Hub work alongside the Children’s Neurodiversity Service and selected secondary schools across Hull & East Riding to provide targeted, needs-led support for children and young people who may have neurodivergent needs.

SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Co Ordinators) can refer eligible children and young people to the Neurodiversity Team for a one-off appointment. The appointment will focus on understanding the individual’s presenting needs and identifying appropriate support and reasonable adjustments that can be put in place within school and, where appropriate, at home.

Referral Criteria

This service is specifically for children and young people who:

  • Attend one of the identified schools across Hull & East Riding
  • Would benefit from a one-off, needs-led appointment to identify appropriate support and reasonable adjustments

Please note: Referrals should be made by the SENCO within the identified school. This service is not intended for children and young people who have already received a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD, or for referrals seeking ongoing or general neurodiversity support.
