Youth Group (Members only)

Our in-person youth group is for members aged 13-17. It’s a fantastic opportunity for socialising and recreation. This group creates a positive and inclusive environment that promotes social interaction, helping everyone to feel comfortable and supported as they engage in activities with peers who share similar interests.  Sessions are guided by our Network Coach, with support from our Peer Mentors.

What happens during the sessions?

This group provides a safe and welcoming space where individuals can participate in familiar hobbies or try something completely new. There’s a selection of activities to join in with - We have a range of card games, board games and video games, there’s also arts & crafts materials and other creative activities. Some of our members bring their own games and play in the company of others. Some members like to sit and draw or colour. We also have a kitchen where we regularly bake and cook recipes, having fun whilst also learning new skills.

Attending for the first time

To help new members feel comfortable, our youth team offers a smooth and supportive transition process. Before their first session, we invite members and their parents/carers for a show-around. This is a great chance to meet the team, check out the space, and ask any questions. This helps to reduce any nerves and build familiarity. For your first few sessions, we focus on 1-to-1 support. A staff member will spend time with the young person to help them settle in, introduce them to others and encourage positive social interactions at their own pace. This gentle, personalised approach helps each young person feel safe, confident and ready to take part in group activities.

When is it?

This is a weekly event that takes place on Friday evenings

Who can attend?

This group is for Matthew's Hub members aged 13 to 17

How many people attend?

There are usually around 30 young people who attend, split up across 2 activity rooms. We also have access to a small room which is used for young people who need a quiet area to self-regulate - sometimes, when people first start, they may prefer this room as a safe space.

How much is it?

It’s free to attend. We do have a tin for donations – we use this for trips.
